Information regarding
Anti-Wrinkle Injections
Anti-Wrinkle injections are the UK’s number one treatment for treating fine line and facial wrinkles. Wrinkles are caused by repeated facial muscle contraction during expressions. Over time these lines become deeper and more prominent. Botulinum toxin injected into these muscles causes them to relax and in turn causes fine lines and wrinkles to soften or disappear depending on their depth. Treatment is quick, safe and delivers amazing results to your appearance. Treatment duration varies, but typically 1 treatment of anti-wrinkle injections lasts 3-4 months.

Are Anti-Wrinkle Injections Safe?
Anti-wrinkle injections are among the safest cosmetic procedures available. Botulinum toxin is a prescription only drug and should only be prescribed by a qualified medical professional. Results from treatment are temporary, therefore so are potential problems.
What Will Happen During the Treatment?
After deciding which areas are to be treated, the area is cleansed with antiseptic solution. The injection sites are marked with a pencil while you frown or squint, which demonstrates the muscles in motion and where the lines are. These spots are then injected with a tiny needle. There may be some discomfort but this is usually described as very mild. When the toxin is injected into the muscles it causes them to relax. The muscles targeted are the ones that contract, pulling the skin into folds and wrinkles; relaxing these muscles essentially relaxes or removes the wrinkles.
What Should I Do After the Treatment?
Try not to touch the area for about 4 hours after the procedure. For the first hour, try to work the muscles that have been injected as much as possible. Depending on what you have had injected, this may involve smiling, frowning or raising your brows. You may return to normal activities straight after treatment – many people have the procedure in their lunch break – but do not lie down for 4 hours. It is advised to avoid alcohol, exercise and excessive heat within the first 24 hours as this can misplace the injected product. It is also advisable to avoid facials and microblading for 2 weeks.

Frequently Asked Questions
What is Botox?
Botox is a brand name for a neurotoxin called botulinum toxin, which is produced by the bacterium Clostridium botulinum. It is used for cosmetic and medical purposes, primarily to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines by temporarily paralyzing the muscles in the treated area.
How Does Botox Work?
When injected into specific muscles, Botox blocks the signals from the nerves to those muscles, causing them to relax. This relaxation of the muscles reduces the appearance of wrinkles and lines, giving the skin a smoother and more youthful look.
What Cosmetic Issues Can Botox Treat?
Botox is commonly used to treat dynamic wrinkles, which are caused by repeated muscle movements, such as frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead lines. It can also be used for other aesthetic purposes, like eyebrow lifting, reducing the appearance of a gummy smile, and softening neck bands.
Is Botox Safe?
When administered by a trained professional, Botox is generally considered safe. However, like any medical procedure, it does carry some risks. Possible side effects can include temporary bruising, swelling, headache, and drooping of the eyelid or eyebrow. Serious complications are rare but can occur if Botox spreads to other areas. It’s important to choose a qualified and experienced provider for Botox injections.
How Long Does Botox Last?
It typically takes 5-14 days for the full effects to be seen, and we will review you at clinic in 2-3 weeks, allowing us to assess the results. The effects of Botox are not permanent and typically last between three to five months. Over time, the treated muscles gradually regain their movement, and wrinkles may reappear. To maintain the desired results, repeat treatments are necessary.
Is Botox Painful?
Botox injections are usually well-tolerated and cause minimal discomfort. We use a very fine needles. Patients often describe the sensation as a slight pinprick or stinging, which subsides quickly.
Can Anyone Get Botox?
While Botox is generally safe for many people, it is not suitable for everyone. Individuals who are pregnant, breastfeeding, have certain neurological disorders, or are allergic to any ingredients in Botox should avoid treatment. It’s important to consult with a healthcare professional to determine if you are a good candidate for Botox.
Are There Any Alternatives to Botox?
Yes, there are other injectable treatments available, such as dermal fillers, that can also help reduce the appearance of wrinkles. These fillers work by adding volume to the skin, plumping it up and smoothing out lines. Other alternatives to Botox include microneedling, chemical peels, and microdermabrasion, which can improve skin texture and tone.
